The New Jersey Jewish Business Alliance has appointed Karin Elkis to its board of directors, according to the Cranford-based organization. The appointment coincides with NJJBA’s launch of a Women’s Initiative designed to elevate and connect women leaders across New Jersey’s Jewish business community.

Elkis brings extensive leadership experience in both civic and business sectors to her new role, according to NJJBA. The organization said her appointment reflects its commitment to expanding leadership with individuals who support Jewish-owned businesses and promote economic vitality statewide.

“Her professional expertise, public service experience, and dedication to community-building will be invaluable as we continue to grow our impact across New Jersey,” said Miles Berger, board chair of the New Jersey Jewish Business Alliance.

Currently serving as senior vice president at business consultant Optimus Partners, Elkis plays a key role in driving strategic initiatives, advising clients, and supporting organizational growth, according to the alliance. She also serves as co-chair of the New Jersey-Israel Commission, where she works to strengthen economic, cultural, and strategic ties between New Jersey and Israel.

Elkis’ political experience includes serving as vice chair of the Sherrill for Governor campaign and as a member of the Sherrill-Caldwell Transition Team, according to NJJBA.

In her new board position, Elkis will support the organization’s strategic initiatives, member engagement efforts, and partnerships that advance business development and professional networking opportunities for members, the alliance said.

“I am honored to join the Board of the New Jersey Jewish Business Alliance at such an important time for our business community,” Elkis said. “NJJBA plays a vital role in connecting leaders, fostering meaningful partnerships, and strengthening the economic and civic fabric of our state. I look forward to working alongside my fellow board members to support Jewish-owned businesses, expand opportunities for collaboration, and help drive continued growth and impact across New Jersey.”

The timing of Elkis’ appointment aligns with what NJJBA describes as a pivotal moment for the organization. The newly launched Women’s Initiative represents an expansion of the alliance’s efforts to connect and support business leaders throughout the state’s Jewish community.

NJJBA focuses on supporting Jewish-owned businesses while encouraging collaboration and promoting economic development across New Jersey. The organization facilitates networking opportunities and partnerships designed to strengthen both the Jewish community and the state’s broader business ecosystem, according to the alliance.

The Cranford-based organization said Elkis demonstrates the ability to build strong partnerships and advance initiatives that benefit both the Jewish community and New Jersey’s overall business environment. Her appointment continues the alliance’s strategy of recruiting board members who share its mission of fostering business growth and community engagement.

Through her various roles, Elkis has established herself as a leader capable of bridging different sectors and communities. Her work with Optimus Partners involves strategic consulting across multiple industries, while her position with the New Jersey-Israel Commission focuses on international economic relationships.

The Women’s Initiative launch represents NJJBA’s recognition of the important role women leaders play in New Jersey’s business community. The program aims to create additional opportunities for networking, mentorship, and professional development specifically tailored to women in the Jewish business community.

NJJBA’s board expansion and new initiatives signal the organization’s continued growth and evolution as it works to serve its members and strengthen New Jersey’s economic landscape. The alliance continues to seek leaders who can advance its mission of supporting Jewish-owned businesses and promoting collaboration across the state’s diverse business community.
